The philosophy behind DUTZI

The philosophy behind DUTZI: Innovation in soil cultivation

Our mission at DUTZI is to offer not only outstanding tillage machines, but a comprehensive system based on a deeply rooted philosophy. This philosophy goes back to Friedhelm Dutzi, a pioneer of plowless tillage, who developed the idea of a "OnePass" method in the 1970s. This method was intended to make it possible to complete several work steps in one pass in order to protect the soil and increase efficiency.

The origin: Friedhelm Dutzi and the "OnePass" method

Friedhelm Dutzi recognized the disadvantages of conventional tillage early on. He foresaw that increasingly heavy machinery and more frequent passes could damage the soil, particularly through the formation of plow bottoms, which would prevent the important aeration of the soil. His solution was a system that combined loosening, crumbling, sowing and reconsolidation in a single pass.

Further development of the technology

We at DUTZI have developed this visionary idea further. Instead of the original delta shares, we now use narrow, 7-8 cm wide tools that penetrate deep into the soil and break up the compaction base without driving under it. This method creates funnel-shaped hairline cracks that develop in depth and enable complete loosening. These tools are available on our front and rear cultivators as well as instead of the delta shares as so-called TL shares.

Advantages of narrow tools

The narrow tools require less power and fuel as they move less material. They reduce the risk of smear layers forming, which can occur in damp soils when working too deep. Our machines should generally only work 25 to 35 cm deep with the loosening tools to achieve the best results. Working too deep can be counterproductive, as it prevents the desired and so important crack formation and also consumes more fuel.

Sustainable soil cultivation with DUTZI

Our front and rear cultivators and TL shares ensure that the soil is optimally loosened and aerated. This promotes healthy soil life, enables deeper root growth and more robust plants and increases the water absorption capacity. Waterlogging and erosion are avoided and the water remains available to the roots in the long term.

Conclusion

DUTZI is about more than just machines - it's about a holistic philosophy of soil cultivation that focuses on efficiency, sustainability and innovation. By using our systems correctly, farmers can protect their soil, increase crop production and cultivate healthier and higher-yielding fields in the long term.
